Recipes for the Lungs
The Lungs are responsible for immunity and defense system in the body according to TCM. The ability to breathe deeply and correctly is of utmost importance in maintaining good health. When the breathing is full and deep, the skin is nourished. The Lungs are very sensitive to dryness in the environment. The following recipes prevent dryness and all of them are suitable to be incorporated into beauty care regime.

Figs, American Ginseng & Pork Soup

Ingredients:

| American Ginseng |
10g |
| Lily Bulbs |
20g |
| Solomon’s Seal |
15g |
| Chinese Yam |
50g |
| Dried Figs |
100g |
| Lean Pork |
250g (cut into bite size pieces) |
| Water |
12 rice bowls (2400ml) |

Instructions:
|
1. Soak the lily bulbs with hot water for 15 minutes until it expands. 2. Scald the lean pork with hot water and scoop them out. 3. Put all ingredients and the lean pork in the pot and simmer with medium heat for 1 ½ hour. 4. Add salt to taste. |

1. In TCM, when one treats the Large Intestines, one does not neglect the Lungs. This recipe, though it influences the Lungs, can also be used for colon problems; hemorrhoids, chronic constipation and occasional bleeding when defecating. 2. For new mothers with lack of milk, cook this recipe with pig’s trotter and add Astragalus Root (BeiQi). Make it into a stew instead of soup. |
